lawyers of American rapper Kanye West had demanded earlier that the creators of the new crypto-currency company Coinye, should stop using the terms "Coinye West" and "Coinye", stop the development and distribution of any products and services, stop using Kanye's copyrighted material, and completely deactivate the website and social media accounts. The lawyers specifically cite the Coinye creators' interview with Noisey, where they say, among other things, that they're staying anonymous "in case kanye gets pissed off".
Though the company has changed their original logo and changed the URL from coinyewest.com to coinyeco.in, they launched their site today.
“We want to release this to the public before the man can try to crush it,” one of the coders told the Wall Street Journal. “They’ll still come after us, but that’s OK.”
